Triple Crown Contest

Three Kiwanis Clubs that have KCBS BBQ Contests have partnered together to offer a Triple Crown Contest.  The team that competes in all three contests and has the best cumulative score of the four main KCBS categories will win a guaranteed $1,500.00.

Winchester is the second leg of this year's round that began in Lawrenceburg with the winner being announced at Pulaski’s contest being held May 8 & 9, 2009.

Winchester’s 22nd Annual High On The Hog Festival is located in the Winchester City Park on the beautiful Tim’s Ford Lake.  The contest started many years ago with a few teams competing on the city square and has grown to 50 or more KCBS teams.  The Franklin County Kiwanis Club has been the organizers for the last seven years and has made many new additions to the festival.  There is a Carnival for the whole family to enjoy along with a free concert, 4-H Chicken Q, World Class Horse Shoe pitching Contest, Beauty Pageant, Talent Show, motorcycle poker run and prize winning barbeque.  All proceeds from this event go for Franklin County Scholarships and local children’s charities.

Pulaski’s Sundrop Country BBQ Cook-Off will be held May 8 & 9, 2009. The KCBS Contest is located in the Giles County Agri Park.  Several other events along with a back yard BBQ contest will be happening along with the KCBS Contest.  Local treasure hunters will enjoy the Kiwanis BBQ Bazaar that features the true artisans from the hills, hollows, and woods of the surrounding countryside.  The kids can take their turn cooking in the Kid’s Que event or just have fun in the Kids’ activity area.  Proceeds of this year’s event will go to the Giles County Child Development Center EI Services that help with children from infancy to three years of age with learning disabilities.

Lawrenceburg’s 18th Annual AT & T Tennessee State Championship BBQ Cook-Off will be held June 26 & 27, 2009 in Rotary Park. Along with the professional KCBS team cook-off, there will be a back yard contest. This is the largest fund raising event of the year for the Kiwanis Club and proceeds will benefit the children of Lawrence County.  Donations are made to The Child Advocacy Center, Ingram Sowell School, Lawrenceburg Babe Ruth and Youth Football to name a few.

Congratulations to Lotta Bull, our 2008 Triple Crown Winner!
